Thanks to the modern miracle that is HBO demand, I watch Leo and Carey Mulligan depict Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan 3-4x a week. The soundtrack was highly criticized for the 2013 remake of "The Great Gatsby" due to the modernity of the song selections. Regardless of the context, the soundtrack is killer.Crazy in Love by Emeli Sandé and the Bryan Ferry Orchestra, Over the Love by Florence + The Machine, No Church in the Wild by Jay Z and that-awful-artist-who-is-married-to-that-awful-reality-star-who-shall-not-be-named, A Little Party Never Killed Nobody by Fergie, the list goes on. In High School, "The Great Gatsby" was one of the assigned readings I thoroughly enjoyed and jumped at the opportunity to analyze the plot, characters, theme, etc. for a research paper. I spent lunch periods with my english teacher analyzing and discussing hidden context and metaphors to perfect the paper (yeah, I was/am a nerd... don't act too shocked). Anyone who has also delved a little deeper understands how hauntingly perfect Lana Del Rey's 'Young and Beautiful' is for the modern remake. Chills. Every. Time. pvw. With pinterest, it's easy to get wrapped up in dramatic wedding photo shots; fireworks/sunsets behind a kiss, long exposure with sparklers, etc. When picking a photographer, it's best to have a clear idea of what moments you absolutely want to be captured from the wedding day. The right photographer will then explain his/her creative vision or how he/she can personalize the shots based on your personalities, venue, theme, etc. In combination with creative vision, a fresh perspective or angle can change the whole dynamic, memory, and meaning of the photo. No need for dramatics. Below are some of my favorites examples that I will be showing my potential photographer for my own very-far-down-the-road-not-engaged-only-planning-on-pinterest wedding: Photographed by Rawsii Photography, a black and white/sepia photo should be somewhere in your album. The lack of color value and low angle puts an emphasis and focus on the bride, her KILLER skirt/train, and groom. Of course the first kiss is a must, but what is GREAT about this Emily Blake Photography shot (besides the adorably excited Groom) is the background. Instead of seeing the officiant behind the new Mr. & Mrs, the angle showcases the attendants' reactions to the first kiss. I believe that this couple or photographer, Anjuli, drew inspiration for the personalized shot from their mutual love of Spider Man movies. Is it probable that that is the reason? No. Am I still going to think they were inspired by the classic movie scene? Yes. Again, a classic kiss shot utilizing the venue, however the Mr.&Mrs. are in the background and the shoes are the foreground. This Clear Skies Photography shot is on here because I am biased. I fell in LOVE with this almost two years ago because it gave me major wedding envy, but also wedding inspiration. The last photo, the exchanging of vows. Typically, both bride are groom are featured looking at each other from a side profile. However, as the Bride read her vows, Allyson Wiley Photography showcased the full emotions of the groom from a non-traditional perspective. Plus, the seersucker suit is such a win in my books. pvw. ‘How much time have I wasted on diets and what I look like?
