I have a true love/hate relationship with Crossfit: I love my boyfriend, who happens to be a coach, but I resent the constant #Crossfit presence on my social media accounts. All the photos and statuses about the #WOD, #flexfriday #fitspo, #burpees, #riseandgrind, #PRs, #cleaneating , #fitfam ... get where I'm going? But today (and ONLY today), Crossfitters win. When I first saw this video pop up on my Facebook timeline, obviously shared by a crossfitter, I rolled my eyes, and then watched the whole thing... and loved it. It was coordinated, organized, personal, and ( I hate to admit this) romantic. Bonus points for getting the whole thing on camera. My opinion of Crossfitters is unwavering until there is a public apology for the countless 'mid-workout/pullup/handstand/squat' profile pictures and approximately 2,371,894,613 articles on why crossfit is life.
But, well, uh... maybe, all crossfitters arent the worst, I guess... for now. pvw. Disclaimer: Bring this admittance up during 15.1, 15.2, 15.3, aka the Open aka when I deactivate all social media accounts, and i'll remember nothing. Today was a long day under the sun for the VWs. I had the opportunity to work with my parents and use my (amateur) skills to cross a few things off my family's check list. At the end of the day, we all enjoyed a few beers on our back deck, watched the ducks go by in the stream, and discussed life. Dad mentioned "the greatest way to defeat a small depression is to accomplish something." If you don't agree, I challenge you to prove it wrong. As Arthur Ashe once said, "life is about doing." pvw. I’ve been (seriously) obsessing about Kiel James Patrick for the past two years after I stumbled across the sailor bracelet inspired collection on pinterest. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until this past February I was gifted a KJP Lanyard Hitch gem. If you're not familiar with the brand, check them out!
Why do I love KJP? I am most definitely partial to the nautical style of New England (wait for the post on my DIY living room) since many of my summers growing up were spent at the local yacht club on Long Island. So call me biased, but KJP company exudes an image that leaves me reminiscing about the regattas, old fashions, salmon colored trunks, coastal living, and life on the Great South Bay. With a chic coordination of classic yet contemporary styling, this brand has created a following by utilizing social media to reinvent a traditional (and fabulous) lifestyle. I find myself scrolling through instagram and facebook liking every photo the company posts- from mimosas on the deck, duckboots in the snow, to proposals by castles in Ireland… Yes, you read that right. Kiel proposed to his blogging better half, classygirlsweargirls aka Sarah KJP at a castle… in Ireland. Swoons. Here are a few products that I have on my radar, AKA I’ll be buying by the end of summer: Turk's Head Knot Collection:
Ocean Link’s Collection:
The company also has other products like belts, bow ties, headbands and apparel… my heart, for now, is set on their Anchor bracelets and Atlantic Pearl Collection. Finally, everything is made in America and is stamped on it's signature anchor clasp. That’s always a win. pvw. All week I've been trying to break in my new Ann Taylor Rhea Pumps (which, by the way, A+ for comfort for 8+ hour days) for the wedding I am in this weekend. After a long and tiring week, I needed a slight reminder of the sassy hell raiser within. Try and tell me you don't feel fan-fucking-tasticly fabulous and kick ass after listening to this. "I'm hell on heels, say what you will Enjoy Thirsty Thursday and have a great (& safe!) Memorial Day Weekend!
pvw. How freaking FABULOUS is this new collection?! Not only am I SO ecstatic about one of my favorite books being produced as a movie with my main man Leo, I cannot wait to see all the classy men of America donning these looks from Brooks Brothers. I can only hope that this retro but classic look sticks and transpires into the wedding world. Imagine walking down the aisle and seeing your man, eyes filling with tears as he looks at your beauty, wearing this... Like commmmeeeeee on.... SO handsome. SO sharp. SO put together. Absolutely fan-freaaaaking-tastic. Screw the nay-sayers.. I am a fan. I am a huge freaking fan. Can't wait for my Gastby man to swift me off my Daisy-like feet ;] Have a great day, loves. pvw. I learned, for instance, that while wounds can be inflicted easily upon those we love, it's often much more difficult to heal them. Yet the process of healing those wounds provided the richest experience of my life, leading me to believe that while I've often overestimated what I could accomplish in a day, I had underestimated what I could do in a year. But most of all, I learned that it's possible for two people to fall in love all over again, even when there's been a lifetime of disappointment between them.” |
